U.S. arms maker Raytheon Co (RTN.N) which bought Websense Inc from private equity firm Vista Equity Partners LLC, in a deal that values about $1.9 billion, in April last year, has unveiled its new company name Forcepoint.

So far the combined company was known on an interim basis as Raytheon|Websense.

Built on the integration of Websense, Raytheon Cyber Products and the recently-acquired Stonesoft next-generation firewall (NGFW) business, Forcepoint will focus on cloud, mobility, Internet of Things (IoT), and others key areas through a unified, cloud-centric platform that safeguards users, networks and data, said a company statement.

“We will provide a unified cloud-centric platform to defend against attacks, detect suspicious activity sooner, and give the context needed to decide what actions to take to defeat the attack and stop data theft,” said Forcepoint CEO, John McCormack. Adding that company has the expertise, financial commitment and ongoing access to unique, defense-grade security technology necessary to deliver on this vision.

“4D” model which focuses on defend, detect, decide and defeat illustrates the company’s platform approach addressing wide capabilities and safeguarding users, data and networks against the determined adversaries.

Websense has fairly decent presence in India and company is aiming to strengthen it further. “We are committed to India. It has been one of the fastest growing market for us and with government renewed focus on digital enablment, we see awareness level about cyber security going up in the country,” Maurizio Garavello, VP APAC, Forcepoint told EC.

As part of the company debut, Forcepoint has launched three new products to address insider threats, cloud-based protection of Microsoft Office 365 and next-generation network security.

Insider Threat Detection
According to the company, Its new SureView Insider Threat 8.0 gives customers an early warning system, automatically identifying the riskiest users within an organisation, based on their behaviours as well as on information received from TRITON AP-DATA, Forcepoint’s data loss prevention (DLP) solution. SureView Insider Threat gathers and provides rich context around user behaviors, including record and playback of user activities before, during and after risky behaviors.

Cloud-based Protection of Office 365
With the move of enterprise applications to the cloud, data must be protected everywhere. The Forcepoint TRITON platform is now natively hosted in Microsoft Azure, enforcing DLP for Microsoft Exchange Online in Office 365, directly from Microsoft’s own cloud. Forcepoint’s TRITON security solutions enforce consistent policy across the cloud, on premises and at endpoints, providing a unified, hybrid defense for distributed, highly-mobile organisations, claims Forcepoint.

Network Security
To deliver the resilient and distributed next-generation firewall, Forcepoint’s Stonesoft NGFW makes strong network security easy for highly distributed organisations. Now with Common Criteria certification, Stonesoft provides consistent visibility, responsiveness and policy enforcement across hundreds or thousands of locations with a single management console, says company.

Recently, Forcepoint has finalised the acquisition of the Stonesoft next-generation firewall and Sidewinder proxy firewall technologies and teams from Intel Security. According to the company, these technologies will expand the cloud and hybrid capabilities of its security platform.
