HP, a dominant printer manufacturer in most markets, will enter the 3D printing business by the end of next year.

In an interview with Indianexpress.com, Nick Lazaridis, senior vice-president and general manager for the Printing and Personal Systems Group of HP APJ, said their version of the 3D printer will not be for DIY enthusiasts or homes.

“Ours will be a high-end device, but it will still revolutionise the market,” he said, explaining how HP was experimenting with different materials.

“We don’t want 3D printing to be limited to plastic. We will look at metal, among online casino other mediums. Our printer will also be much faster,” he added while speaking on the sidelines of the HP Innovation Day in Singapore.

Lazaridis said they were looking at these printers powering shops that print stuff for individual users. “I see this revolutionising the world, it will once again decentralise manufacturing like it was in the pre-industrial age,” he says, adding how the world two decades on could be one in which everyone will be self sufficient thanks to mass customisation.
