The “Trends in Application Delivery Strategies” survey, which was conducted by Gatepoint Research on Akamai’s behalf earlier this year, polled 350 enterprise IT decision makers. A majority (65%) of respondents hold high-level management positions in Fortune 1000 companies and participants hailed from a variety of casino pa natet industries, including business and financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications and transportation. Nearly half (46%) of respondents represent global enterprises, with more than one-fifth of users operating outside of the US.

In addition to providing insight into how quickly enterprises plan to move applications to the Internet, the survey also highlights related concerns. For example, security remains the top concern for respondents (87%). Further, 66% worry about performance and 45% are concerned about reliability.

“Trends such as globalization, telecommuting and mobility continue to drive the shift to Internet-delivered applications, and enterprises today are working hard to keep up,” said Mike Afergan, SVP & GM – Web Experience Business Unit, Akamai.

“These survey results reinforce the demand for technology that provides greater security, reliability and speed for their business critical web applications. And as IT decision makers continue to look for ways to maximize the benefits of Internet application delivery, they want access to complementary solutions, such as those delivered by Akamai, that enable improved, global access to information and, ultimately, greater productivity,” added Afergan.
