Apple Updates ‘How To Clean Your Apple Products’ Amid Covid-19 Outbreak

After strongly objecting to the use of disinfectants on its products, Apple has finally allowed it amid the coronavirus outbreak. The company has chosen to keep the safety of its users at first priority by updating its ‘How to clean your Apple products’ website. 

The updated version allows Mac, iPad, iPhone, and iPod users to keep their devices clean with disinfectant wipes.

In their statement, they suggest using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes that should be used gently on the surface of Apple products. The statement also strongly advises against using bleach or getting moisture through any opening. 

Apple’s touchscreens are made of an oleophobic coating that can react negatively to any disinfectant. The product can only be cleaned with water. Nevertheless, the Covid-19 outbreak has called for safety measures and Apple has taken this up seriously owing to studies revealing that smartphones are dirtier than a toilet seat. 

The latest Apple products are developed with the capacity to be water-resistant to some level. Based on this, cleaning the device with a damp cloth will not harm it. The updated guide of using disinfectants as well falls in line with the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) that says people should constantly sanitize their hands and avoid touching their nose and eyes before sanitizing
