McAfee has announced two changes in its Indian R&D organization. Starting from October 1, Anand Prahlad, currently Vice President of Engineering for Endpoint Security, will assume the role of Managing Director of Operations, McAfee India. Prahlad joined McAfee two-plus years ago from CommVault, where he worked for sixteen years in product development and was a key member of the executive team that led CommVault through a successful IPO in 2006. In his new role, Prahlad will be supported by the leaders of the McAfee India Executive Team in driving the maturity and success of the site. He will also maintain his current role as a VP in the Endpoint Security group.
Company veteran, Sridhar Jayanthi, who led McAfee India for the past ten years, will take a six-month leave of absence to spend more time with his family. Upon his return to McAfee in 2013, Jayanthi will be based in the United States in a new role where he will be responsible for R&D’s global strategy and execution on mergers and acquisitions. He will also be instrumental in steering the company’s portfolio management efforts. Jayanthi will continue to report directly to Bryan Barney, Executive Vice President of Product Operations.
“Anand has been a valuable asset to McAfee India, and as Sridhar’s groomed successor, has been a critical component in many of the site’s recent successes. Based upon his 22 years in technology, and his experience specifically in product development leadership, I am confident he has the skills and tenacity to take the organization even further in terms of engineering excellence,” said Barney.
“I am proud and excited to be taking on the role of Head of India Operations,” said Prahlad. “McAfee has one of the best work cultures I’ve seen in my career and some of the smartest people in the industry. It will be an absolute honor to work with the McAfee Executive team, as well as the Leadership team in India, to help take the organization forward and to greater successes.”
“Over the past 10 years, Sridhar has built a great, productive, and collaborative culture, while becoming a respected member of McAfee’s executive team,” added Barney. “I thank him for all of his efforts these many years and look forward to his return next year in his new role.”
McAfee India employs 1,450 people across job functions. With 29 products and/or projects fully engineered in MIC across 90 teams, McAfee India is the largest R&D group, and the largest site across all of McAfee.
