Currently, the device is exclusively available on e-commerce portal amazon.in. However company is in talk with OEMs to sale it offline. “At this time we are launching it via amazon.in and going forward, we do intend to take it to customer in different ways,” Rajiv Khosla, managing director – Lumileds India told FE. Adding that company is in discussion with OEMs to offer the device as an option when somebody buy a car.

With the growing debate around Arvind Kejriwal’s 15-point odd-even plan to curb the Delhi’s air pollution, the awareness about air pollution has risen in past few months and company is expecting huge demand for the its air purifier. “Awareness level has increased and given the fact that people living in urban areas spend more than an hour and half in car everyday, the potential demand for in-car purifier is huge,” said Khosla, adding that at this point of time, Philips is not looking at numbers as the product is still at nascent stage in India.

On the question, wether there is any plan to expand the product portfolio in this segment, he said, “whatever the products available in the market, they all are in very early stage but with awareness level increasing, we may launch more variants of this device in future.”

Explaining about the technology behind the device, Forest Shen, global product marketing manager, mobility, Lumileds said, GoPure Compact 110 is made based on Philips patented three-stage multi-layer filtration technology which rapidly removes air pollution, fine particles including cigarette smoke, pollen, dust, PM2.5, airborne virus and bacteria, toxic gases chemicals such as formaldehyde, toluene and TVOC.

Khosla did not share the number of devices company is targeting to sale and expected revenue from this product saying “we have not set any specific target and it is too early to put a number to sales”.

The product will be imported from the Lumileds manufacturing plants in China.
