eGovWatch: Union Budget to be streamed live on social media

This Budget Session, the government has plans to live stream both the Union Budget and the Rail Budget on Youtube and is also planning to invite questions from the people through social-media platforms like Twitter.

Amalgamating media like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube, the Information & Broadcasting ministry is likely to hold “Talkathons” to facilitate finance minister Arun Jaitley and railway minister Suresh Prabhu make their post-budget remarks.

This was confirmed by minister of state for information and broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore who said there were plans to use the “Talkathon” as the method for post-budget interactions.

“We may soon invite people to send their questions regarding the budgets on the social media,” Rathore said. The first Talkathon was organised by the I&B ministry on February 16 in which power minister Piyush Goyal answered around questions for nearly 30 minutes.
