The Jalore district administration in Rajasthan has introduced a GPS-based mobile monitoring system for effective monitoring of various government schemes and development projects.
The objective of the initiative is to obtain real time progress of any project or scheme by leveraging Information Technology and put a check on corrupt practices.
According to District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni, the brain child behind the initiative, it will not only help monitor the projects effectively but also ensure transparency and timely completion.
For this, Android tablets will be provided to inspecting authorities at block level. “The inspector would go to the spot, take pictures of the work with relevant particulars and would forward these to us,” Soni said, adding not only pictures of the work but a selfie by the inspector at the spot will also have to be taken.
“This is how we will be able to keep track of various ongoing project,” said Soni. All the ongoing schemes will be covered under this system by striking coordination between planning and implementation, thereby enabling the administration as well as the government to collect correct data and adopt evidence based decision- making.
