For the first time ever, Lenovo India has become the top PC vendor in the country, in terms of unit shipment (IDC Asia/Pacific Quarterly PC Tracker, Q1 2012), with an overall market share of 15.8%. This is for the quarter ended March 2012. Lenovo’s rise to the top has been consistent over the past three years when it had a share of 4.8%.
Lenovo’s success in India mirrors the success the firm has had at a global level which had made it the fastest growing vendor among the top five vendors for ten quarters. It also increased its market share in the overall notebook segment to 21.2 %, taking the company to the #1 rank in overall notebooks in the last quarter. The Enterprise business, which has been the leader for three consecutive quarters in a row, continued to see a robust growth of 70.8% Q-o-Q & 99.1% Y-o-Y, taking Lenovo’s market share in this segment to 33% and maintaining the rank of #1 (market has grown 7.1% Y-o-Y) in Q1 2012.
