The ministry of commerce and industry will be holding a meeting on Friday with e-commerce companies, brick and mortar retail firms and also international retailers to discuss foreign direct investment (FDI) in e-commerce retail.
The agenda of the meeting sent out by the ministry has stated that it will discuss the regulatory framework for the receipt of payments against sales by B2B e-commerce entities, framing guidelines for B2B e-commerce.
The agenda also states that the meeting will discuss if guidelines will apply to all entities providing IT-enabled platforms on networks of computers or TV for the sale of goods and services, which also include digital products.
The ministry of commerce and industry is also examining whether goods or services made available for sale electronically on the website should clearly mention the name of the seller, and whether packaging and delivery of goods should be the responsibility of the seller.
