Chhattisgarh govt to provide more incentives to IT firms

Pitching for investments in the IT and electronics sector, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today offered to provide extra incentives to companies investing over Rs 100 crore in the state apart from the already announced benefits.

“We will provide bespoke incentives to companies investing above Rs 100 crore,” Singh said at the IESA Vision Summit.

Companies can experience congestion free traffic in Chattisgarh, get land and houses at cheap rates along with dedicated power and water supply, he said, adding that they can meet dedicated officers who assist companies in various areas.

“We have set up country’s first smart city, Naya Raipur.

If you are tired of traffic jams, then just come to see it and see the facilities that we have there. It is very close to the Airport. It will take only 5-10 minutes for you to reach destination, and not 2.5 hours. I have come here to invite you,” Singh said.

He also said that fear of naxalism in the state is exaggerated and in five years time there will be complete peace across state.

“We are now entering in area where Maoists have a stronghold. There will be peace across state in next 5 years the way we are handling it,” Singh said.

The CM added that his government is also setting up logistic hub for IT and Electronics companies with investment of Rs 500 crore which should be operational in one and half years from now.

“We here had opportunity to visit Nasscom incubation centre and from next month we will start working with them to set up incubation centre in Chattisgarh,” Singh said.

The state has surplus power and will further add 15000 megawatt power generation capacity in the next 5 years, he added.

Chattisgarh Principal Secretary Aman Kumar Singh said the government has got in-principal approval for electronics manufacturing cluster and will involve private companies once it is finally approved by the central government.

“We have also dedicated 80 square kilometer region for IT companies and 70 acres area has been earmarked for National
Investment and Manufacturing Zone,” the secretary said.

He said that state is offering 5 per cent financial reservation in government procurement to companies that will make their products in state.
