Airports Authority of India (AAI) is set to start a Quick Response (QR) code-based mobile application to address public grievances that shall be made available at 20 Indian airports by September, a Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) statement said.
The QR code will be extended to all remaining Indian airports by March 31, 2015, the release added without giving out the names of the airports where this facility is to be launched in the next three months.
It also added that the country’s civil aviation regulator, Directorate General Civil Aviation (DGCA), shall bring out a Standards of Services Document enlisting the services and transactions offered to the public, work involved in the various processes, rules and regulations, fee charges for various services and the time-lines for completion of these activities.
“This will be in the nature of a Citizens’ Charter and bring about greater transparency in its (DGCA) working,” it added.
The civil aviation regulators have also been asked to create a portal on its web-site, informing public about travel related issues and advisories, availability of special assistance and facilities to be provided by airlines and airport operators, along with provisions to lodge complaints for redressal.
“DGCA shall observe Janmitra Diwas every Friday from 2 to 5 pm when any member of public can approach its officials without prior appointment,” the release added.
