Odisha government has allocated Rs 20 crore to provide Wi-Fi facilities in six universities, 46 government colleges and 23 non-government ones in the state, as part of the Smart Campus scheme.
Odisha’s higher Education Minister Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi said that with this, educational institutions would have smart classrooms, e-library and communication-cum-language laboratories from the next academic year.
The facility would then be extended to more colleges and varsities.
Officers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, which would execute the project, have started survey in state-run institutions.
“Funds will be released after BSNL submits a detailed project report,” said Secretary (higher education) Gagan Kumar Dhal, who was also present.
