Who Is India’s Top Streamer? Netflix Or Disney?
As per reports, Netflix is testing a new introductory offer of enticing new subscribers. Now on, new subscribers need to pay only INR. 5 for the first month. This offer is however not applicable for old users.
This is an obvious attempt to entice new users into taking out a subscription. Netflix had already rolled out the plan to some users on 21st February. Though, Netflix doesn’t have a definite time frame for concluding the tests, and also gauging customer reaction.
Netflix would roll out this offer only to a few selected users, using the option of paying INR. 5 for the first month. A similar campaign was been launched by Netflix, where they ran a similar campaign of launching a mobile-only plan for INR.199/month in 2019.
All of this depends on the success of the test, where Netflix may roll out to all users. This promotion would enable people to watch the entire Netflix catalogue, which would be inclusive of award-winning films, series and documentaries, at INR. 5 for the first month.
This introductory offer is only valid for users, irrespective of the subscription tier they opt for. The company is hoping that its new offer would be able to grab eyeballs, and also hook new users to their expanding catalogue of international programming.
They had earlier allowed a one-month free trial for new users. In December 2019, this was phased out, while INR. 5 for the first month, would not be defraying the revenur lost per user. Based out of California, Netflix said that it has added 423,000 subscribers in the US in the fourth quarter. Its international subscribers have risen by 8.3 million, that has beaten its internal estimate of 7 million users. As of now, Netflix has around 167 million subscribers worldwide.
