IT firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a new partnership with MapR Technologies Inc., a distributor of Apache Hadoop, to help enterprise customers capture critical big data insights. The partnership’s new big data offerings claims to shift the IT cost curve and allow companies to strategically re-imagine their business models.
Gartner predicts the market size of Business Intelligence/Performance Management and Analytics to be $96 billion by 2016, with Big Data IT services representing almost half of that figure at $43.7 billion.
Big data spending will be a combination of upgrades, replacements and ‘net new’ projects, taking advantage of new data-driven business models, innovative products and services, and predictable pricing models. This overcomes previous barriers of information silos and lack of IT analytics systems.
“At TCS, we are on a mission to help our customers re-imagine their businesses by leveraging big data in combination with other digital forces to redefine their existing business models, create new data-driven products and services, redraw target segments, create new channels, and also change their business processes and workplaces,” said Dr. Satya Ramaswamy, Global Head – TCS Digital Enterprise, TCS.
“Our partnership with MapR in the big data space is already delivering measurable business benefits for customers and we look forward to expanding this alliance to jointly pursue other opportunities where we have deep expertise,” added Ramaswamy.
TCS and MapR are developing turn-key solutions to address key big data challenges, such as recommendation engines, supply chain optimization and pricing analytics.
“MapR is excited to partner with TCS to help customers overcome market uncertainty and tackle big data challenges and opportunities. This partnership brings TCS’ vast big data experience and industry domain knowledge together with our industry-leading, enterprise-grade Hadoop platform. This will be a big win for our joint customers,” said Jon Posnik, VP – Business Development, MapR Technologies.
