The first phase will begin with data collection followed by data feeding work in the next phase. At the end of the third phase, details of the properties  and property tax payers will be available digitally.

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation will soon launch digitisation of records of about 3.5 lakh properties under its jurisdiction in a move aimed at scientific management of data and boosting revenue. “The digitisation project capable of maintaining 4 lakh property tax records will be launched soon and relevant paper work in this regard is on. Initially only the records of 3.5 lakh properties will be digitised which would be expanded as per increase in the numbers,” said a senior NDMC official.

North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta said that tenders for digitisation work will be floated soon by the municipal corporation. “The process of tendering is likely to be completed in March itself and work may start at the end of the month or first half of April,” he said.

NDMC is keen on digitisation of property records and its maintenance in electronic form as it would save time spent in lengthy paperwork and also boost revenue, Gupta said. Digitisation process will be completed in three phases. The first phase will begin with data collection followed by data feeding work in the next phase. At the end of the third phase, details of the properties  and property tax payers will be available digitally.

Gupta said that digitisation of property tax data was a step towards the concept of Digital India envisaged by the Prime Minister. The project will involve scanning of existing paper data, data entry of handwritten documents, data synchronisation, data quality check, linking of data with UPIC (Unique Property Identification Code) and online property tax database and other digitisation work through the hired agency, he added.
